American tech giant, AMD shows keen interest in setting up an R&D center in Bengaluru, India, thereby creating nearly 5000 engineering jobs in the coming years.

Speaking at the 2023 edition of Semicon India, Mark Papermaster, executive vice president and chief technology officer, AMD, said;

"AMD will invest approximately $400 million in India over the next five years. It will set up its largest R&D centre in Bengaluru, which is expected to open before this year ends. It also expects to add 300 additional engineers by 2028-end,"

The news breaking came in nothing short of surprise, with FDI flowing into the sub-continent filled with talented engineers & techies. Prime Minister Modi team's effort to attract the foreign top-tech companies from all over the world, has seen some great news breaking off late.

AMD's mega plan came after Foxconn's venture in India for the hardware assembly plant. With $10B subsidy allocated for the entrant hardware manufacturers seems to have been working. This news comes at a time when India is trying to attract major semiconductor players to set up hardware & electronics chip fabrication industries.

Almost every industry major players like AMD, Micron, Cadence, and others had gathered at Gandhinagar in Gujarat at an annual semiconductor conference, with PM Modi presidency.
