Tesla has set on a mission to develop its own version of “private 5G” technology to provide connectivity for their products, i.e., Tesla electric vehicles and their much anticipated humanoid robot, Optimus.

The company showed the world on how to pioneer the internet connectivity in their electric cars, providing features that were almost unheard of, such as over-the-air software updates, media & data rich connectivity features, data collection for remote diagnosis adding more value to its customer-base.

Tesla rolled out their initial products, mainly EV's with an onboard 3G network module for internet connectivity, and later switched to 4G LTE as the technology progressed.

Tesla's Lead Staff Engineer, Pat Ruelke, had revealed the company's plans to build seamless private 5G connectivity between Tesla products and infrastructure, in a social media post seeking for a suitable candidate to work on it.

Since 5G networks offer better & advanced connectivity features, Tesla seems to have been planning to adopt it with its own private network infrastructure for quite a while.

With this move, Tesla aligns its goal to deliver the better connectivity experiences to its customer-base and by deploying private 5G network around its supercharger & at other company owned facilities.
