On the night of March 1, 2024, a Brazilian traveling couple on motorbikes were assaulted and the woman was raped by seven local men. The incident took place, when the couple decided to camp out on the outskirts in Jumka district when the perpetrators attacked and raped the woman.
The couple reported to the local police, three of the seven culprits were arrested quickly and search in place for the remaining culprits. The couple had a fame following on social media and were traveling around India for quite a while before the heinous incident took place, They were on their quest of touring the world on their fully kitted adventure touring motorcycles.
The incident went viral quickly, and there was a public outrage over social media upon the breaking of this news. India being safe at most parts of the country does have certain regions, where travelers need to be extra careful and definitely avoid doing such camping in such unknown places which are known to be unsafe.
