The origins of today's date (1st of May) every year recognized as International Labour Day dates back to the 19th century, year 1886 to be exact in today's United States of America, when ,the working force rebelled against the oppressing industrialists on 1st of May, who mostly exploited their human-resource with little to nothing in terms of safety, care and kindness to them.

This day also celebrates the significance of the industrious efforts laid by the workforce thereby commemorating their contributions for the betterment of humankind to what it has achieved so far, especially from the past couple of centuries which is a giant leap from the slow and almost non-mechanized era.

In India, the first ever Labour Day was celebrated in Madras (today's Chennai) on the year 1923 on 1st of May. It has become an officially recognized public holiday commemorating the importance & signifance of all the labouring staff.

Different countries have adopted the Labour/Workers Day on different day/date in the calendar year, however internationally May 1st has the significance as the Labor Day.
