Rishi Sunak is new PM of Britain: An Indian origin Member of British Parliament

Rishi Sunak is the UK's new Prime Minister, a son of an Indian-descent doctor/medic couple, Rishi won the Conservative leadership race on Monday, in London. He is also the son-in-law of the founder of the Indian Information-Technology giant (Infosys) Sri. N.R. Narayana Murthy & Smt. Sudha Murthy. Sunak has also served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020, and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond (Yorks) since 2015.

Rishi Sunak was born in Southampton to parents of Indian descent who had migrated to Britain from East Africa in the 1960s. He has been educated at Winchester College, studied philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) at Lincoln College, Oxford, and earned an MBA from Stanford University as a Fulbright Scholar.

While being at Stanford, he met his future wife Akshata Murty, the daughter of Indian billionaire N. R. Narayana Murthy. Rishi and his wife are the 222nd richest people in Britain, with a combined fortune of £730m as of 2022. The news of Rishi Sunak's becoming the PM of UK was wished by many Indians across the globe, especially on the digital media, including the Chairman of Mahindra, Anand Mahindra who tweeted his thoughts

At 42 years of age, Rishi Sunak took power in a morning audience with King Charles III, who anointed his first PM since his ascending the throne. 

Mr Sunak is Britain's former finance minister. With his appointment, he will not only become the first Indian-origin PM of the UK but also the first practising Hindu to hold the top job in the nation. Rishi Sunak is one of the wealthiest politicians in Westminster and has a net worth of over 700 million pounds. 

Now, he would be expected to launch deep spending cuts to try to rebuild Britain's fiscal reputation, just as the country slides into a recession, dragged down by the surging cost of energy and food. source

An Indian origin person, a practicing Hindu manning the leadership of a country which had once ruled and exploited India for its own benefits, and just after India celebrated its 75 years of Independence, plus on the auspicious days of Deepavali taking oath makes every Indian feel proud of our qualities & capabilities.
