Twitter Ads Revenue Sharing with Creators Monetization Program

Yes, Twitter has announced the expansion of its creator monetization program. As part of this initiative, users will now have the opportunity to share in ad revenue generated from replies to their posts. Twitter says this move is to help enable individuals to earn a livelihood directly through the platform. However, Twitter has not shared what the revenue share is, such as what percentage each side would be getting from it.

Although many are claiming to have receiving their first payments, as much as $25k (around INR 20+ lakh or more), most of the claim posts are as fake as their own 'creativity' enable them.

However, it is true that Twitter are rolling out sharing their Ads Revenue with the 'Creators Monetization Program' with a selected few of the 'initial group' who will be contacted to accept their payments. The criteria is that the users should have subscribed to their, 'Twitter Blue' or 'Verified Organisations' program.

Twitter says Creator Ads Revenue Sharing will only be available under the terms,

  • In the countries that Stripe operates. This means that users in India aren't monetized yet, although the social media firm could enable with other payout methods.
  • They also need to have at least five million impressions posts in each of the last three months.
  • Twitter says users or creators need to pass Twitter's Creator Monetization Standards, which include parameters like age, country, and activity on the platform.

Interestingly, Elon Musk is also eligible for the ad revenue sharing program, as his profile is verified and fits in all the other parameters. When a user asked how much he was going to make, Musk replied that he gave away his share to "the creator payout pool."

Monetization is a great way to grow in the Social Media Industry, as we all can witness from the way how YouTube is acing at it. Rollout timing of the monetisation program by Twitter couldn't have been any better, especially when it is facing the heated competition from Threads by Meta. With this program Twitter should be able to retain its loyal creators and users, as Meta does not offer any ad revenue sharing program so far.
