Inauguration & Purpose
The summit, hosted at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and running until 20 February, was launched as a major global AI event meant to bring together world leaders, policymakers, tech CEOs, startups, researchers and students.
It’s designed to spotlight AI’s role in inclusive growth, innovation, global cooperation, and governance, with participation from more than 30 countries and major AI industry players.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the opening and toured the expo space where Indian and global AI technologies were showcased.
🌍 Global Participation & Messaging
The summit drew attention worldwide as a rare major AI forum in the Global South aiming to shift leadership in AI governance beyond traditional hubs.
The event was a huge crowd puller, but that also led to some shortcomings with the organisers to handle the situation. However as the day progressed, things got sorted out however some valuable time was lost with both the delegates & attendees.
Summary: The first day of the India AI Impact Summit was a mix of high enthusiasm and global participation alongside notable organisational and logistical challenges that dominated much of the conversation online and in media. The event’s deeper policy and technical sessions are scheduled across the following days.
