In the Karnataka assembly, elected BJP party members went ballistic on the ruling Congress party leaders on the subject of misaligning the fame & sanctity of the holy place. Dy. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar replied to it, saying that he, being a Hindu himself, understands the matter, as he too is a devotee of the temple, and explained the matter is of legal justice & necessary action was taken keeping in mind the importance of the place.
Girish Mattanavar, a former cop of Karnataka, said the informer's family is being harassed & intimidated by the people from the accused in the Dharmasthala case. He again says that he is fighting for this case on behalf of the victims and not against the temple or anyone in particular, thereby justifying his stance.
A major special twist during this special investigation is that for the first time the informer, complainant & former sanitation worker comes directly in front of the media & reasserts on camera about his motives. He also confirmed that mortal remains were found in site 6 & site 11 and explained that there are a lot of changes on the ground, with forest overgrowth and land moved for developments, and hence cannot guarantee the findings of his claims.
After various areas were dug in the region of Dharmasthala, SIT was coerced to use a radar-technology-based investigation tool before digging up Area 13 near the banks of the Netravathi River. It is said that the radar was ineffective due to high water-saturation in the soil. However, it is said that despite going as deep as 18 feet in the demarked land area, there was no substantial evidence found from the excavation.
As with most other excavations, earthmoving equipment was used to dig up this site too. Not sure if it was a good choice of tool for the excavation, but in the beginning of the exhumation process a forensic expert was heard saying it was a bad idea to use for old grave pits, as it could damage the fragile & decomposing human remains, including bones & skulls.
