In a sting operation, VijayaTimes has unearthed a major RTO registration scam at Kolar |district.
Many vehicles that are older than 15 years, even suspected stolen vehicles are sold as newer registered vehicles. A dedicated workshop running the operations of renewing the aged (15+ years) vehicles is involved in this racket, where vehicles are obtained initial registration from Arunachal Pradesh then transferred with NOC to the buyer as used with low mileage & newer vehicle.
As reported by VijayaTimes,
- They are doing re-registration in Magic without the vehicle itself.
- Registration of stolen or stolen vehicles as new model at Kolar RTO office.
- Re-registration of 2000 vehicles in Arunachal Pradesh in 6 months.
- There are 250 children in the school and 125 vehicles are registered in the name of the school.
After reporting the sting operation to the Karnataka State Transport Minister, Mr. Ramalinga Reddy, the case was handed over to Police department, where they raided the workshop, seized the vehicles, mobile phones of the key people. Further action on the Kolara RTO officials have been initiated who were involved in this racket.
