Severe flooding on the roads of Delhi, India.

The situation in Delhi due to the deluge from rainbursts is still ongoing as of July 22, 2023. The heavy rains that started on July 19 have caused widespread flooding and damage in the city.

The rains have affected over 100 areas in Delhi, and at least 10 people have been killed. The Delhi Metro has been shut down in several parts of the city, and traffic has been severely disrupted.

The government has deployed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to help with the rescue and relief efforts. The NDRF has rescued over 1,000 people from floodwaters, and they are continuing to search for those who are still missing.

The government has also announced a compensation of ₹50,000 for the families of those who have died in the floods.

The rains are expected to continue for the next few days, and the government has warned people to stay indoors and avoid going out unless it is absolutely necessary.

Here are some of the areas that have been affected by the floods:

  • East Delhi: The areas of Shakurbasti, Mustafabad, and New Usmanpur have been severely affected by the floods.
  • North Delhi: The areas of Jahangirpuri, Burari, and Rohini have also been affected by the floods.
  • South Delhi: The areas of Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, and Vasant Kunj have also been affected by the floods.

The government has set up relief camps in the affected areas, and they are providing food, water, and medical assistance to the people who have been displaced.

The Delhi government has also announced a holiday for schools and colleges on July 22 and 23.

The rains have caused widespread damage in Delhi, and it is still unclear how long it will take to recover from the disaster.

Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for another week, and has advised caution for the people living in NCR.
