Berlin Court Gives Custody of 'Ariha Shah' to German State - Setback for Indian Baby's Parents

Germany's Pankow local court granted baby Ariha Shah's custody to the German state while dismissing the parents' plea. The court emphasised that the 'best interests of the child are at risk'.

This after the court said that the parents intentionally caused injuries to the child. 28-month-old Ariha suffered a head and back injury in April 2021 while she was being bathed and a genital injury in September 2021. The court states parental care was being denied to 'avert existing danger to the child'. The parents have appealed to the Indian government to bring their baby back home.

In 2021, baby Ariha Shah was barely seven-months-old when she was taken from her parents by the German authorities on the charges that she was abused at home. On Tuesday, a Berlin court reportedly granted full custody of the child to the German state.

People's Voice:

Something doesnt add up at all,

1) why did the grandmother hide the fact that she injured the baby's private area while changing diaper, and only came out when confronted by her parents

2) it happened more than once that too the 2nd time the child needed 3 stitches in her genital region.. thats definitely not normal. Somehow i feel like the role of grandmother is being downplayed to bring the child home.
