This is welcomed by almost everyone on the netizens of India as they also feel it is time to move from the colonial mindset to the true Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

“We are convening a special meeting on September 7 to discuss and rename the Central Vista and Rajpath stretch as Kartavya Path. The proposal is yet to come but the meeting has been called. All members and officials concerned will participate in the meeting,” said NDMC Vice Chairperson and BJP leader Satish Upadhyay.

Revamped Central Vista Avenue is also expected to be opened later this week and is part of the larger Central Vista project, which houses an all new triangular Parliament Building, along with the Central Secretariat and several other Government offices are being rebuilt alongside the Kartavyapath. Kartavyapath also signifies the larger motto of the people using it to be more productive than having a pseudo feeling of royalty which otherwise the colonial nomenclature had so far.

Ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, Race Course Road, where the Prime Minister’s residence is located, has been renamed as Lok Kalyan Marg and Aurangzeb Road as Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Road. The name of Teen Murti Chowk was changed to Teen Murti Haifa Chowk, after the Israeli city, when the then Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited India in 2018.

The theme of duty has been a refrain in several of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches. In his Independence Day address to the nation this year, he had spoken about the duty of citizens towards the nation.

Announcing the “panch pran” (five resolves) for the next 25 years, he had said, “The fifth pran is the duty of the citizens, in which even the Prime Minister, Chief Minister cannot be an exclusion as they are also responsible citizens and have a duty towards the nation. Every country that has achieved something, a few things have emerged. One is a disciplined life, and the other is devotion to duty. If everyone performs the duties of a citizen, I am sure that we can achieve the desired goals ahead of time.”

During the inauguration of the all new Central Vista Avenue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also
going to unveil the statue of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose installed beneath the canopy at India Gate which earlier housed the statue of King George V. The decolonisation drive is said to be underway until every historical places are restored to its original status.
