In an eventful turn-around rally at Acropolis, Greece - Jari-Matti Latvala is on the path towards his first rally win in this season at WRC. Evgeny Novikov probably was not so lucky, despite his top form this weekend. He hit the down slope after an unfortunate puncture in SS5 and dropped down to 8th overall from the rally leading position.
Opening stage of the rally, the herculean stage SS1 - Kineta Pissia. It looked like the Greek Gods unfavoured Sebastien Ogier forcing him to be the first victim to retire as his VW Polo R WRC's, engine lost the necessary fuel pressure. Mads Ostberg too had to stop and attend a puncture and lost vital minutes. Mikko Hirvonen was left struggling with no power steering in his Citroen DS3 WRC. Overall it was the top order who bore the brunt of the Greek rocky gravel roads.
Dani Sordo who looks in good sync with his assault weapon, the factory Citroen DS3 WRC, is standing at second overall at more than arms length from the third placed Thierry Neuville.
By the end of Saturday's action, the leaderboard looked as below.
