In an unfortunate incident that shook the IRC community and motorsports world early yesterday, has left us short of one more rising star! Gareth Roberts, who parted us at a very chirping and young at just over 24 departed the rallying scene forever while doing his beloved part of his life.. co-driving (navigating) in the 5th round of IRC Targo Florio Rally's special stage 8.
Gareth was co-driving for Craig Breen since 2009 since they paired up for rallies to come after. The pair won the inaugural FIA Academy in the WRC, in the previous season - 2011.
Gareth Roberts, from Wales, GB, was trained as an electrician for living and was very much involved in motorsports from a very young age and did is successfully to claim the FIA Academy championship too. We recall Craig Breen had once saying, "Gareth is a magician, he’s incredible how he gets every note out so quickly. I couldn’t do it without him."
Let the almighty give enough strength for his family, friends, and fans alike, to bear the loss of the soul lost.
Rest in peace, Gareth Roberts! We will miss you!!
