An explosion of a car in Delhi, at a signaled road near Red Fort, claims several casualties. At least 8 people were killed and several more injured in the busy hours of the area. The blast occurred around 18:52 local time, when a car exploded into a ball of fire. The explosion was so severe that the car wasn't identified until experts stepped in for the task.
It was identified as a Hyundai i20 last registered to a person named Tariq, a native of Pulwama district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Given the fact that the history of the district's several locals being an ally to the terror hub of Pakistan, Jaish-e-Mohammed, a probe is also underway on this aspect. Soon after the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah said in a press release,
This explosion occurred a few hours after police recovered a huge cache of explosives from Faridabad, in the national capital region. Nearly 350 kg of amino nitrate, two AK-47 rifles & ammunition, along with a Chinese-made pistol.
An eyewitness said it was from a car fitted with CNG. fuel tank.
