Why Banks will Remain Closed on Monday, 01 April.

Banks all over the country are preparing for a series of holidays in April 2024, which marks the beginning of the new financial year. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its yearly holiday schedule, and both public and private banks will be closed for around 14 days in April, including weekends that fall on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays.

On March 29th (Friday), banks in several states, except for Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, and Srinagar, will be closed on account of Good Friday, and similarly, on March 31st, being a Sunday.

Banks will also be closed on April 1st (Monday) in most Union Territories and states, except for Chandigarh, Sikkim, Mizoram, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya, for the annual account closing. Despite the expectation of a long weekend, banks will be open on March 30th, as it is the fifth Saturday.

While banks across India will observe various festivals, it’s crucial to note that the total number of holidays in April is 14 days nationwide, and specific holidays may differ depending on the state or region. Nonetheless, the online banking services will be operational, and ATM services will still be available during these holidays.
