United Nations & World Health Organization acknowledging International Yoga Day of 2023 |
Narendra Modi's official visit to the Unites States also coincided with the International Day of Yoga at New York, today.
Addressing the gathered crowd at UN HQ, along with various dignitaries on stage, including the Mayor of New York city. He made it sure to acknowledge everyone for their effort to make it to the event well prepared, and also noting the fact of the presence of almost every nationality at the venue.

With great enthusiasm he also spoke about the importance and richness Yoga brings to everyone, such as Unity, Health, Mindfulness & Joy.

He also recollected of his last time in 2014, nine years ago on the same day to celebrate International Day of Yoga on American soil. He was happier to acknowledge this year being the International Year of Millets, the proposal that was almost unanimously approved by the UN & other International bodies to promote the healthy food commodity which is also an environmentally sustainable crop to cultivate.
He also recalled that in 2015, he had wished for a new Memorial be built for the fallen for the peacekeepers of UN at their HQ.
2023 - The International Year of Millets
Last year, India had proposed 2023 to be celebrated as International Year of Millets called, to which almost the whole world had supported for it's worth. Millets, which is almost a superfood not only good for holistic health of the humans, but also great for the environment as it is easy to cultivate, needs less water and sustains harsh climatic conditions.

He concluded the speech quoting the ancient-Indian Samskrit proverb "Sarve Bhavanthu Sukhinaha, Sarve Santhu Niraamaya", which translates to "May everyone be happy, May everyone be healthy".
