We are a few days away from the World Environment Day and then there is a tweet from an IAS officer who in a video reveals a shocking sight of garbage being dumped at the base camp of Mt. Everest leaving the whole of internet in an outrage.
Destination Mt. Everest has changed a lot from the Edmund Hillary-Tenzing Norgay's time to what it is today. From being an adventurer's challenging destination, to this day it has become a popular tourist destination that is being visited by thousands of people each year. While there are inspiring stories of individuals conquering the mountain, it has also revealed a impossible to recover loads of trash that has been left behind as a result of the modern day tourism. This recent video sheds light on the issue of trash being left behind.
IAS officer Supriya Sahu shared a video, originally posted by Everest Today, on Twitter showing scattered garbage, tents and plastic waste dumped at a camp on Mt Everest. The video, believed to be recorded by a mountaineer, depicts a "dirty" campsite.
The caption aptly reads, "When human beings don't spare even Mount Everest from dumping their garbage and plastic pollution. Truly heartbreaking. #stopplasticpollution #MountEverest #everest video by @EverestToday."

To everyone reading this so far, please do not leave your trash in any place, be it your home or anywhere. Dump it in only specified places, with people who can further process them responsibly.
