A Drunken Commuter Tries to Flee Driving a Public Bus - Crashes onto a Divider

A inebriated passenger tried to flee with a public service commuter bus, frustrated after waiting hours to find a bus ride to his destination.

The incident happened on June 5, 2023, in Aurad town, in Bidar district of Karnataka, India. When the passenger found out that there was no bus plying on his route, he decides to drive a stationary bus in the bus-terminal occupied with a few passengers.

Hailing from Karanji village, Yashappa Suryavanshi was the identified person who had been waiting since morning took to the drivers seat and sped away, while both driver and the conductor were away for a routine formality before starting a trip.

Unable to control the heavy vehicle, he hits a cruiser and finally comes to an halt after hitting and climbing an road divider. Unable to recover, he jumps out and began to run away, but gets caught by one of the road user and was handed over to the authorities.

Fortunately, the passengers onboard were unhurt although shaken from the incident.
