HIGHLIGHTS
A high-scoring thriller clinched by the Capitals in the end! Warner and Co came out all guns blazing after being asked to bat first. A 94-run stand between Shaw and Warner set the platform for the middle order to follow. Rossouw who came at number three was game from ball one, the swashbuckling batter smashed 82 runs from just 37 balls at a staggering strike rate of 222. A mammoth target of 214 was never going to be easy to chase down especially after playing a maiden to Khaleel and losing the Skipper Shikhar Dhawan for a duck. Atharva Taide did manage to score a half-century but was unable to strike according to the asking rate which was always creeping. It was Livingstone who unleashed himself when 79 were required from the last four. It came down to 38 from the last 2 when Nortje bowled a match-winning over which gave away only 5 runs. Liam Livingstone the lone warrior did strike a few in the final over too but failed to get over the line. clinched the game by a margin of 15 runs eventually.
WHAT THEY SAID!
" It is frustrating. We didn't bowl really well in the powerplay. We should have taken some wickets while it was swinging. It's quite a close game, but can't help it. Livingstone played a great knock, unfortunately, we couldn't end up on the winning side. I feel my decision to bowl spin-off the last over backfired. In this sort of a wicket, whether we take wickets or not, we should bowl at the right areas which we are not doing for quite a long time. For every powerplay, we have been giving 50-60 runs, we should be taking wickets as well. I got out and the 1st over was also a maiden. "

" Very bad fielding performance to be honest. Playing on a nice batting wicket helped. Was pretty challenging at home. It was nice to see Prithvi bat the way he did. Rilee Rossouw played an amazing knock as well. We needed some consistency at our home venue but unfortunately did not happen. We haven't been able to work out a total at home. Great to get the points tonight. "
