Rooftop Solar Power Plants are now a Common Sight

Clean Energy initiatives from the central and state governments has made the adoption of Solar Power plants on top of buildings a fast new trend to not only save the environment, but also huge on electricity bills. In the past decade and more, India has been witnessing a huge push alongside the global initiatives to adopt clean energy advancements to meet the Paris-Agreement deadlines.

This month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed a major clean energy project to make Modhera in western Gujarat state the nation’s first 24/7 solar-powered village, with citizens producing their own electricity from 1,300 rooftop systems.

Solarisation of Modhera, undertaken under the project called ‘Suryagram’ (Sun Village), is helping nearly 8,000-odd inhabitants of the village to unburden themselves from the consumption of conventional energy.

Such initiatives have not only made developing countries switch to cleaner energy resources, but also help boost their economies by increasing self-reliance on the soaring energy prices of fossil-fuel based energy reserves that is depleting quicker than estimated.

Coal, gas, petroleum products are not only fast depleting at an alarming rate, but also pumping an astounding levels of carbon content back into the atmosphere which we all breathe in, and also generating hazardous waste that is difficult to manage.

The rooftop solar power plant is poised to be a gem of a life-saver in situations like grid-blackout which not only can power during day, but also can charge batteries for non-production hours of usage for critical loads such as a ventilators for hospitals, uninterruptible power supply systems for Data-Centers and cellular/radio-communication towers, etc.

However, the best advantage would come when the solar-power plant on the building's rooftop is connected tandem with the electrical grid to share the excess energy produced to be utilized later back from the grid when required thereby not only save on the investments on the battery, but also not waste excess unused energy produced.

The governments across the globe have adopted the industry standard and much practiced method called net-metering to only raise the final bill on the net-difference of energy consumed vs energy produced (via solar), thereby saving a huge section of the power bills month after month, for decades to come.

However, the key to a Solar Rooftop project’s success for sustained power generation will depend on good maintenance of the systems, industry experts & researchers point out numerous examples of poor after-sales service resulting in defunct rooftop solar projects.

It is imperatively clear from any historical truth as to why any project fails; due to poor development, maintenance and bad planning and wrong decisions taken during the entire course of the underlying processes. With a plethora of service providers, picking up the right one is critical but necessary.

We found that Urja GreEnergy (a subsidiary technical services unit of Tantragna Corporation) which is founded by a visionary & dedicated team of industry professionals who understand all the macro-to-micro fine details of not only rooftop solar, but also researching & developing systems into future of energy & mobility solutions as a holistic program.

A vital pillar of India’s renewable energy push is to create skilled & knowledge equipped workforce that can operate the solar and wind power plants being set up across the country to meet rising demand for electricity. This is where the new-and-emerging energy technology companies like Tantragna Corporation who can come in handy for new and existing adopters of local renewable energy producers using Solar energy systems.
